Fortnite Tournaments Explained

In Fortnite, although it may seem that it is played for fun, hosts tournaments where people can compete for cash prizes. Today, we will be going over all the different tournaments in Fortnite. (Some tournaments DO NOT offer cash prizes).

Cash Cups

Cash Cups is a way to make money. The only way to play Cash Cups is to have a high enough rank. Cash Cups can be played in Solos or Trios. As of now, I am pretty sure that Fortnite is doing the Trios format. Remember, Cash Cups are region locked. If you wanted to play in a different region, you cannot. Cash Cups either have 1 round or 2 rounds. If there is one round in the Cash Cup, players that are near/at the top of the leaderboard will receive a share of the cash prize. The higher you are on the leaderboard, the more cash you get. In two round Cash Cups, the top 100 players of the first round will qualify to round 2 where players battle it out in 6 rounds.

Victory Cash Cup

A Victory Cash Cup is a type of Cash Cup where there are only 2 rounds, and the qualifiers can only make money by winning.

Fortnite Performance Evaluation

The Fortnite Performance Evaluation is a cup that is only hosted the day after a important update. The Fortnite Performance Evaluation is only hosted in EU region, and has cash prizes. It only is made to test the new game mechanics.

Open Cup

The Open Cup tournament is a simple tournament which is allowed for all players, and has no prizes.

Cosmetic Cup

Skin Cups gives players cosmetics or skins without the player needing to buy them from the item shop. These cosmetics or skins are usually given before they are released inside of the Item Shop. Cosmetic Cups are usually open to all. Most of the skins are collab skins.

Fortnite Champion Series

This tournament known as FNCS is one of the biggest and toughest tournaments. FNCS starts at the near end of every season and offers a VERY large cash prize. FNCS is region locked, and is only open to high-ranked players. Winners will win the legendary Axe of Champions.

Console Cup

This tournament is only available to console players. It is almost the same as FNCS. Some Console Cups are only open to specific consoles. (Ex. Playstation Cup).

Ranked Cups

Ranked Cups are made for players in the same rank. If you reach the required amount of points, you are able to get special cosmetics. The cup that you go to depends on your in-game rank.

These are the most common types of tournaments. There are still other tournaments though, such as scrims.
